The most Reverend Bernard McQuaid, the first Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Rochester, founded the O-Neh-Da Vineyard and wine cellars in 1872 as a reliable source of quality sacramental wines for area parishes. Steeped in local lore and history, O-Neh-Da Vineyard is the second oldest, still operating winery in the now renowned Finger Lakes region of New York and remains one of the few sacramental wine suppliers producing its own wines at its original facility. O-Neh-Da Vineyard is situated above the pristine western shore of Hemlock Lake in the area now being called the Little Finger Lakes region. With its fieldstone walls and vaulted brick ceilings in the cellar, the winery presents an impressive structure nestled in the verdant Conesus hills. In keeping with a tradition of over 130 years, O-Neh-Da wines are produced in full accordance with Canon Law governing valid and licit matter for Altar wines.
